Hope Secures Support from Police Rank and File

Posted by: Campaign on July 20th, 2008

Mike Hope is no stranger to fighting crime.  As a ten year police veteran of the Seattle Police Department Mike has been protecting neighborhoods and has arrested hundreds and hundreds of criminal suspects.  “Mike’s proven leadership and continued commitment to law enforcement and public safety will serve the citizens of Washington well,” stated SPOG president Sgt. Rich O’Neill.

According to Mike, “I am pleased to receive the endorsement of my colleagues and fellow officers.  One of the reasons I am running is to ensure that law enforcement has the tools needed to ensure that we are able to fully prosecute criminals that continuously violate the law.”  As a detective assigned to Seattle’s criminal analysis unit, Mike has seen over and over again spikes in crime due to individuals being released too early.  “It never fails, when suspect “A” is released from prison or the county jail.  I start looking at our trend lines, patterns and crime series data.  Often times the charts rise sharply only to quickly go down again after that same person is arrested again.  This is an issue that the current governor and legislature has often ignored.”

Mike expects that he will see a rise in his doorbelling efforts because of his colleagues’ joining him on the campaign trail.

Mike Hope, Popular with Young People Too.

Posted by: Campaign on July 13th, 2008

(Reposted from the Snohomish Times.)

“As the candidates start gearing up for the election one thing is clear, Mike Hope has gotten a thumbs up from local young people. Mike says he gets calls to volunteer almost every day and has asked his wife Sarai to continue finding more jobs to keep them busy. Mike’s wife Sarai has been working tirelessly at keeping the campaign organized and moving one direction, forward. Just recently Mike and his team were able to doorbell three precincts in two days because of the number of volunteers. “I couldn’t do what I do without Sarai” Mike said. “Campaign or no campaign, she is my partner, my wife and my friend.” As to why so many young people are volunteering to help, it may be that Mike has spent so much time working with the schools whether it be counseling kids about crime or coaching them in sports, Mike seems to be a part of helping to challenge them in life skills.

“As demonstrated in a resent video post, a young person stated that they see Mike in the hallway at school being a positive role model quite a bit and that’s why they are helping to get him elected. Many times it’s not about taxes, welfare or social programs, it’s about character and these young people say Mike’s the one that has it. Mike has shown to be a great example of what one can achieve if they put their mind to it. Mike Hope is a Seattle Police Officer, United States Marine, football & track coach, small business owner and now campaigning for state representative. Mike’s wife Sarai is a special education school teacher and also coaches sports. Sarai will undoubtedly keep a bug in Mikes ear on how the legislature is doing in educational issues from a teachers point of view.

“When asked about his challenger Liz Loomis, Mike Hope said he had not seen any movement from her camp yet and noted that he’s running his campaign forward regardless of what she does. At this point Mike says it’s hard to judge if this race will get ugly or if his challenger turns to a negative campaign like Christine Gregoire is doing with Dino Rossi. One thing is for sure, Mike wants to run hard and stay positive, not stopping until November. There has been some speculation that Mike’s challenger will use the upcoming Snohomish Garden Tour to launch her campaign into full swing. Her friend and next door neighbor, a City Councilwomen, was able to slip her into the Garden Tour at the last minute after a cancellation. She had to then quickly create a new garden for the “Garden Tour”, the landscaping people were there for a week or so trying to pump up her small city lot. The Garden Tour which is coming up in a couple of weeks will be at many different homes in the Snohomish area, the Chamber of Commerce is encouraging people to come to town even if it’s not for the Garden Tour.

“The Snohomish Times would like to remind people to register to vote and don’t forget to vote in the primary which is coming up soon, the ballots should be arriving in a couple of weeks.”
